The Department of Community Affairs contracted with Information Systems of Florida, Inc., in January 2000, to create a website that would provide contractors, builders, and the public, an electronic method to keep informed about the new Florida Building Code. Since its deployment in October 2000, BCIS has become a hub for DCA employees, building manufacturers, third-party agencies, training providers, and anyone else interested in the Florida Building Code. FDCA anticipate and respond to natural disasters---hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and fire. The Department is responsible for all community issues such as public safety, water and air pollution, sanitation and affordable housing.
